Ice Prevention and Snow Melting Cable Mat is a fixed resistance heating cable which is precisely spaced out and attached to a fibre reinforced backing tape.
The heating cable mat is rated at 300 W/m² and is available in a range of lengths. It is usually embedded in concrete or installed under paving stones for ice and snow melting purposes in outdoor areas. The most common application in industry is heating of ramps or loading platforms in factories and warehouses, where an ice prevention system can reduce the risk of accidents and ensure work can be carried out at all times. Other applications include car parks, garage driveways, pavements and outdoor steps – areas that need to be kept free from ice and snow so heavy salting and snow shovelling are avoided.
In the winter months, serious injury can occur from the formation of ice on work platforms in warehouse loading bays or on entrance walkways to busy public buildings. This potential hazard can easily be minimised by installing an ice prevention system.
In the case of snow fall, an ice prevention system will quickly melt any snow that falls providing clear access for pedestrians and vehicles on pavements and drives.
