The Flexel ECOFOIL Under Laminate Aluminium Foil Mat is an electric underfloor heating mat for floating laminate and engineered wood floors in special locations where carbon infrared heating film cannot be used, such as bathrooms and shower rooms (special locations as defined in BS 7671). Each mat is a fluoropolymer heating cable encased in aluminium foil, 500 mm wide, with a heat output of 140 W/m², a 3 m cold tail and a 10-year guarantee.
The aluminium foil spreads the heat evenly across the floor and acts as an earthed grid, which is what makes the mat suitable for these locations. XPS thermal insulation board and a thermostat are available as optional extras below.

Optional extras
What else you need
XPS thermal insulation board. The mat must be laid on XPS Thermal Insulation Board. It stops heat being lost into the subfloor and is also the underlay for the flooring. It must cover the full room area, wall to wall, so order the full floor area plus about 10% extra for waste and cutting.
Thermostat. Each room or heating zone needs one 16A thermostat with a floor sensor. In bathrooms the thermostat must be fitted outside the room and set to control by the floor sensor only.

Where to use it
ECOFOIL is made for special locations (as defined in BS 7671) such as bathrooms and shower rooms, where carbon infrared heating film must not be installed. The earthed aluminium foil makes it suitable for these rooms. It is designed for floating laminate and engineered wood floors, but is not suitable under laminate with metal clip locking systems. In bathrooms the thermostat must be fitted outside the room, and the mat must be controlled by the floor sensor only. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
