Price includes VAT Shipping calculated at checkout.
Our polyester vapour barrier is laid over carbon underfloor heating film to provide the second layer of insulation needed for a Class II installation under BS 7671. It comes in 1 m wide rolls of 12 m or 25 m.
Full features, installation notes and specifications are below.
Key features
- Forms the second insulation layer over the heating film, as required for a Class II system under BS 7671
- Acts as a vapour barrier between the film and the floor finish
- 1 m wide rolls in two lengths: 12 m (about 10 m² coverage) and 25 m (about 22 m² coverage)
- Suitable for carbon film used on floors and ceilings
Installation
- Connect and insulate all film connections before laying the barrier.
- Roll the barrier out over the whole floor, including the unheated areas.
- Overlap neighbouring runs by 100 mm and tape every joint with heavy duty cloth tape.
- Lay your floor covering directly on top.
The coverage figures allow for the overlaps between runs. Not sure which roll you need? Call 01342 645021 or contact us. Our official installation partner Standard Electrical Services can also install the complete system.

Why the vapour barrier is needed
The polyester vapour barrier is what makes a carbon film system a Class II installation. Class II means the live parts are protected by two separate layers of insulation, so the system does not rely on an earth connection to keep people safe. Without the barrier over the film, the installation would not meet the UK wiring regulations (BS 7671), so it should always be laid over the whole heated floor.
