The Flexel ECOMAX is a rigid insulation board for tiled floors, made to go underneath an underfloor heating cable mat. Its extruded polystyrene core is faced on both sides with a cement layer reinforced by glass fibre mesh, giving a strong, waterproof board that you can tile straight onto.
Available in 6 mm and 10 mm thicknesses, with each board measuring 600 x 1200 mm.
Full features, controls, installation notes and specifications are below.
Key features
- Cuts heat loss into the subfloor, so the cable mat warms the tiles faster and uses less energy
- XPS core with a glass fibre reinforced cement facing on both sides
- Keyed surface that accepts tile adhesive directly
- Waterproof and very strong under compression
- Light to handle at 1.8 kg (6 mm) or 2.0 kg (10 mm) per board
Compatibility
Designed for tiled floors heated with an underfloor heating cable mat or loose heating cable laid on top of the board.
Installation
- Cut the boards to size with a knife or saw.
- The boards can be fixed down onto any sound subfloor.
- For mechanical fixing, Flexel offers the TBSW kit of 25 mm screws with 35 mm washers (pack of 50). The washers are for use with the 10 mm board only. Please ask us if you need fixings.
- Lay the heating mat on the board and tile over it using a suitable flexible tile adhesive.
