Stop Outside Taps and Pipes Freezing
A frozen pipe can split and flood a garage, loft or kitchen, and a frozen boiler condensate pipe can stop your heating on the coldest morning of the year. A pipe heating cable keeps the pipe just above freezing, and only switches on when it gets cold.
The easy answer: plug-in pipe cable
Our Ecoflex plug-in pipe freeze protection cable comes ready to use, with its own pipe thermostat, a 1.5 m lead and a 3-pin plug. There is nothing to wire up:
- Run the cable along the pipe (or spiral it round) and tape it in place.
- Put pipe insulation over the pipe and cable.
- Plug it into a socket. The built-in thermostat turns it on when the pipe gets close to freezing, and off again when it is safe.
It works on metal or plastic pipe up to 50 mm across.
| Length | Price |
|---|---|
| 2 m (outside tap, condensate pipe) | £75.38 |
| 4 m | £81.01 |
| 6 m | £86.00 |
| 10 m | £94.87 |
| 14 m to 42 m (lofts, garages, outbuildings) | £102.69 to £168.73 |
Where it helps most
- Outside taps and the pipe running to them through the wall
- Boiler condensate pipes that run outside
- Pipes in lofts, garages, sheds and outbuildings
- Pipes in empty or holiday homes over winter
- Animal drinkers and water supplies in stables and farm buildings
For longer runs or wired-in jobs
For long pipe runs, or where an electrician is wiring in a permanent supply, our self-regulating pipe heating cable is cut to length on site and sold by the metre (from £15.41 per metre). It turns its own heat up and down along its length. This one must be connected by an electrician with a suitable thermostat.
Steps and paths too
